Year 2019 : Time to say Goodbye to Headphones and Earphones

When Apple introduced the iPhone 7, it removed the headphone jack. Apple spun it as a win for consumers who could now use wireless headphones (preferably Apple-branded AirPods) for a better overall experience and no more tangled wires.

Israeli startup Noveto wants to go one step further, eliminating headphones entirely with a new technology that beams the sound from your device directly into your ears. Noveto essentially has invented the virtual headphone. Now headphones will start to look like old technology in 2019.

Noveto has come up with a technology that can do exactly the same thing as headphones - deliver sound right to your ears without disturbing those around you - except without the headphones themselves. In fact, you wouldn't need to wear any device at all. The technology uses a system of sensors similar to those in the latest iPhone X, which unlocks your phone using facial recognition rather than password or finger recognition.

Focused audio can come from either a standalone device that looks like a small soundbar or Bluetooth speaker, or from any device that usually makes sound like a TV, computer monitor, smartphone, tablet, and even things like an exercise treadmill with Noveto's technology built-in.

Using its own algorithms, Noveto finds your face and calculates the distance to your ears (they don’t have to be visible) and a specially developed tiny speaker focuses the sound there. Move your head and the sound follows you. It emits audio directly to your ears and there is no sound leaks out to disturb your neighbour.

Noveto's "focused" audio is steerable and follows you around as you move, which is something directional audio can't do. It uses 3D-tracking technology to see where your ears are and deliver that audio right to your ears.
How does it sound?
In its current prototype state, it may not satiate audio quality enthusiasts. But the sound quality will be dramatically improved as development progresses, however, it could easily give its devices better sound quality than one of the most popular headphones you can buy today.

There are some limitations on how much you can move. So sports like jogging or skiing are out. Instead, Noveto is concentrating on three business opportunities.

Cars
You want to listen to a podcast in the front seat but the kids prefer Beyonce in the back. With Noveto’s My Virtual Mobile system, everyone will be able to connect to the car’s entertainment system via Bluetooth. Then, the installed Noveto speaker can direct the appropriate audio to each person’s ears.

Office
Noveto’s sensors and speakers can be built into a computer’s screen, meaning conference calls (and any other audio you might listen to while at work) will be beamed to your ears only, easing the auditory overload for workers in cubicles, call centers, and the open-plan offices favored these days in startups.

Gaming
It allows gamers to play for hours in front of a computer without getting headphone fatigue. (Parents might find this a less appealing selling point.)

Noveto expects the devices will be ready and available to buy by fall 2019.

Basic Formulas : Digital / Internet Advertising

Mathematics is everywhere. Let it be a school life or our professional life. So, let’s try to understand the application of mathematics in internet world. What is CPM? The term CPM stands for Cost Per Mile which means cost per 1000. Its one of the most popular and used term in internet advertising space. This is the cost which advertiser pay to agency or publisher for publishing/serving 1000 impressions. Let’s take an example to understand it better. Example: Let’s assume that “Cadbury” wanted to run banner ad at CPM of INR 350 and wanted to serve 350000 impressions during the month time. What will be the total cost of client for this campaign? Total Cost to Cadbury = CPM X (Impressions)/1.000) So, Cost to advertiser will be = 350 X (3,50,000/1,000) Total cost to advertiser will be = INR 1,22,500 Let’s have a quiz here…what will you find out CPM if impression and cost is given: CPM = Cost to advertiser X 1000/Impressio...

What is TRP & GRP in Television Advertising ...

Television holds the title of the largest mass medium for advertising for more than 60 years now and that designation has not been overtaken even after the entry and growth of internet medium. It is an imperative and consequential component of media planning because of its pervasiveness, impact, mass reach and targeting abilities. Albeit the world has come a long way in going digital, Television advertising still plays a paramount role when it comes to marketing products and services. The entry of Netflix, Amazon, ALT Balaji, Viu, youtube etc. it has become a hot topic to anticipate the inevitable decay and demise of te...

What is CPRP and Its Comparison with CPT

The Indian television industry is completely driven by viewership data collected, evaluated and released by BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council of India). Data is the sole driver of all the investments made by advertisers on the television medium. It is very crucial that the broadcaster (TV Channel Owners) and brands must know and understand the television data science to justify their role in entire the eco-system. CPRP and CPT in advertising and media planning are terms which need to be concisely understood while planning media campaigns on television channels.   CPRP stands for Cost per Rating Point. It is the cost incurred to reach one individual in the targeted group of the brand. It is an indicative figure which gives the media planner an idea of the cost incurred in passing the brand message to one single individual in the defined target group. It is the cost of advertising time on television channel based on the price of time for a single rating point generated b...
